A transparent process

Know what was detected and what changed

Clear analysis

Distinguishes compatible EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC, text, color profiles and auxiliary blocks.

No recompression

JPEG and PNG files are rebuilt while preserving image data and essential properties.

Real verification

Every result is analyzed again and compared with the original before download is enabled.

Your images stay on your device

Image contents, filenames and metadata are not sent to external services during processing. Your browser initially downloads the site resources, and the hosting provider may record those ordinary requests.

No misleading promises

Removing metadata does not erase invisible watermarks or visual similarities, and it cannot guarantee that a social network will stop labeling AI-generated content.

AI-generated images

Can metadata be removed from an AI-generated image?

Some generators store conventional information in EXIF, XMP, comment or software fields. MetaClean can detect and remove those blocks when they are present in a compatible JPEG or PNG file.

This does not remove every possible AI signal. Platforms may use provenance credentials, invisible watermarks, visual analysis or information stored outside the file.

Frequently asked questions

Which formats are supported?

JPEG and PNG. WebP remains postponed until cleaning and verification can be guaranteed reliably.

Will image quality be reduced?

No. The current version removes structural blocks without decoding or recompressing pixels.

Does it remove every trace of provenance?

No. It reports recognizable indicators but does not promise anonymity or removal of visual or external identification systems.

Why preserve the ICC profile?

It may be required for consistent colors, so it is preserved by default.
