How to remove metadata from AI-generated images
An AI-generated image may contain conventional metadata, software information or provenance credentials. These systems do not work in the same way and cannot all be removed using the same techniques.
What MetaClean can remove
EXIF fields such as software, date or device details when present.
Identifiable XMP blocks added by some tools.
Compatible comments and text blocks in JPEG and PNG files.
Conventional GPS information stored in compatible EXIF data.
What cannot be guaranteed
Labels assigned by Facebook, Instagram or other platforms using their own systems.
Invisible watermarks or statistical fingerprints embedded in pixels.
Visual identification performed by external models.
Complete cryptographic validation or removal of C2PA credentials.
Analyze first
Review which categories are actually present. The absence of a known block does not prove that no other identification method exists.
Verify afterward
MetaClean analyzes the result again and only reports metadata as removed when it existed before and no longer appears afterward.
Analyze your image without uploading it
JPEG and PNG files are processed locally. Review the before-and-after report before downloading the result.
